Your rights under the law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The benefits of our warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies you have under a law in relation to the goods.
If a disc has a major failure, you can choose a refund or a replacement. If the failure is not major, we can choose to repair or replace it, or refund you. If you live in New Zealand, you also keep your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 when you buy as a consumer.
What our warranty covers
We, [Business name to be added], warrant that PG SICA brake discs and disc kits bought from pgsicabrakes.com are free from defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date they are delivered to you, when they are fitted correctly, bedded in and used on the road.
Examples of defects we cover:
- A casting or machining flaw in the disc ring.
- A disc whose diameter, thickness or fixing pattern does not match what is listed for its SKU.
- A faulty hat, floating bobbin or fixing supplied in a kit.
- A crack running through the disc ring, or from a fixing hole, in normal road use.
Track and race use
Track days and racing put loads on a disc that we cannot see or control. Using the discs on a track does not cancel this warranty for defects that were there when they were delivered, such as a casting flaw.
Race rotor rings (ADZ, BDZ, CDZ, FDZ and QDZ) are made for track and race use. They are covered for defects in materials and workmanship that were present when they were delivered, reported within 12 months of delivery. Wear and heat damage from their intended use are not defects.
Wear, heat checking (fine surface cracks), cracks caused by thermal stress, blueing, and any other heat damage from track or race use are not defects.
What it does not cover
- Normal wear. Discs wear as they work, and how fast depends on your car, your pads and your driving. Replace discs at the minimum thickness marked or listed for them.
- Fine surface cracks (heat checking) that do not run to the edge of the friction ring, and heat discolouration.
- Vibration or judder caused by uneven pad deposits or thickness variation (often called “warping”), which comes from bedding, pads or driving rather than from the disc.
- Discs chosen for a car they do not suit, unless we confirmed the fit in writing.
- Damage from incorrect fitting, skipped bedding in, wrong torque, dirty or rusty hub faces, or worn or faulty pads, calipers or wheel bearings.
- Corrosion on unswept surfaces, and surface rust after washing or storage.
- Accidents, impacts, road debris, and discs that have been machined, skimmed, drilled or refinished.
- Noise, dust or pedal feel that comes from the pad compound.
- Costs beyond the disc itself, such as labour to remove or refit parts, towing or car hire. This does not limit any compensation you are entitled to under consumer law.
How to claim
If a disc may be faulty, stop using it. Then email info@pgsicabrakes.com within the warranty period with:
- your order number and the SKU, for example PG-ACU-DE5-F350X32-SCD-D;
- your car: make, model, year and brake package;
- the pads you use, when the discs were fitted, and the distance driven on them;
- what happened, with clear photos of both discs on the axle and the pads, and thickness measurements if you can take them.
We reply with the next steps. We may ask you to send the disc to us, or to have it inspected, before we decide. Please wait for our return details before you send anything.
If we accept your claim, we repair or replace the disc. If a replacement cannot be made, we refund what you paid for it.
Who pays for shipping
If your claim is valid, we pay the shipping both ways: we send you a prepaid return label or pay back the reasonable cost of sending the disc to us, and we pay to send the repaired or replacement part to you.
If we find the disc is not faulty, we explain why. We send it back at your cost, or dispose of it if you prefer.
Other costs of making a claim, such as taking photos or removing the disc, are yours, unless consumer law entitles you to them.
